Days that End in "Y"
If you are ever in the New Ulm area and want to compete against the local racquetball players, you can find them playing almost any night of the week. To give you a better idea of who to find on any given night, here's what's usually going on.
Mondays - League Night (6:00pm-9:00pm)
Tuesdays - Doubles Players (4:00pm-8:00pm)
Thursdays - Doubles & Singles Players (6:00pm-8:00pm)
Fridays - Doubles Players (4:00pm-6:00pm)
Saturdays - Doubles & Singles Players (8:00am-10:00am)
So if you're into racquetball and ever in town for business or pleasure, bring a racquet court shoes and a good sense of humor. You're almost always going to be able to join in on a game. Players are on average 'Upper C' and 'B' level competitors. Hope to see you at the New Ulm Rec Center (Vogel Arena).

Thank you, Joe Sobek. This is fun...
I highly doubt that Joe Sobek could have ever imagined what the game he invented would evolve into. The game was initially played with paddles; racquets on today's market are more like super-sonic slingshots. Like training a hunting dog to adapt to the sound of a gun, it's important to expose beginning players to what a racquetball game sounds like. The crack of the ball hitting the walls (or skipping off the floor), the acoustics of on-the-court dialogue, and the essential use of racquetball terminology during play; all of these aspects of the game are not learned over night. To become accustomed to the game, one must learn some basic rules of physics and how to compete with good sportsmanship. Each player brings to the court a different perspective of the game. For some, it's a calming way to relieve the stress of a tough work day, for others, it's just plain fun. Whatever the reason, it's a highly competitive game meant to be enjoyed with friends.
